Document basics
These are general explanations. The organization receiving your document should confirm its requirements.
An affidavit is a written statement of facts that a person swears or affirms is true. The document must be prepared before the appointment.
A statutory declaration is a written statement solemnly declared to be true. It is often used where no specific affidavit form is required.
A Notary Public compares a copy with the original document presented and certifies that the copy is a true copy of that original.
